Tudor Heritage Advisor Watches: Alarm Clocks for the Wrist

Tudor Heritage Advisor watches are alarm clocks anyone can strap onto their wrist and bring anywhere. They are great for people who want to keep track of their schedule but are too busy to pull out their smartphones to set or snooze the alarm function.

The timepieces are obviously for a niche market because rarely do people look for and use alarm watches just to wake up in time or be reminded about an appointment. Nonetheless, these watches from Tudor have become hot items for collectors.

How much is a Tudor Heritage Advisor watch?

The price of a Tudor Heritage Advisor watch is dependent on which model you select. To make the buying choice easy for everyone, below are the bestselling variants of the timepiece and their key features and estimated prices:

The Tudor Heritage Advisor Ref. 79620TN-0001 is an alarm watch priced at $4,709 USD. Its black dial is its standout characteristic, accounting for the use of “N”, or Noire, in its name.

The timepiece has a dark-toned face with the signature complications and designs only found in Heritage Advisor watches. Decorating the dial is a central embossed disc. It has an alarm status indicator at the 9 o’clock position that switches between “on” and “off”, a date ring that has the “Advisor” label at the center, and a round power reserve window at 3 o’clock with a red indicator. The dial’s alarm hand is in a striking red color and the indexes are displayed in Arabic numerals and pointed rectangular markers.

The watch, having date and alarm complications, is made possible by the Tudor caliber 2892 underneath the dial. Besides the extra features, the movement can provide 42 hours of power every time it winds itself. It is developed in-house, unlike the ones used by Heritage Advisors of the past, so it can be considered the flagship caliber of the brand.

The Tudor Heritage Advisor Ref. 79620TN-0001 also features a stainless steel and titanium case with parts that make the functions adjustable. There are two crowns at the 2 and 4 o’clock positions for changing the time and date, and a single pusher at 8 o’clock for easy toggling of the alarm setting.

The timepiece’s dark dial and sleek case are beautifully contrasted and complemented by the stainless steel and titanium bracelet respectively.

The Tudor Heritage Advisor Ref. 79620T-95740-Steel resembles the Ref. 79620TN-0001 watch. It has all features of the previously discussed timepiece, with the exception of the dial’s silver hue.

Compared to the Heritage Advisor Ref. 79620TN-0001, the Ref. 79620T-95740-Steel watch better emphasizes its red accent. The red alarm hand and power indicator stand out because of the watch's lighter overall hue. The Tudor Heritage Advisor Ref. 79620T-95740-Steel is pricier than the version with the black dial. It will set you back $4,949 USD.

If you want every feature of the Tudor Heritage Advisor Ref. 79620T-95740-Steel save for its steel bracelet, the Heritage Advisor Ref. 79620T-Leather is the model to buy.

The watch integrates a genuine alligator leather strap, not the synthetic one. The band is as stylish and secure to wear on the wrist as the stainless-steel version because of its glossy look, alligator skin pattern, folding clasp, and safety catch. The Tudor Heritage Advisor Ref. 79620T-Leather will cost you $4,699 USD.

The Tudor Heritage Advisor Ref. 79620T-0009, priced at $6,000 USD, is sportier than the traditional Heritage Advisor watch. It has a rugged look because of its black silk strap that has four vertical grooves. Apart from the strap, the model takes after the Tudor Heritage Advisor Ref. 79620T-95740-Steeland Ref. 79620T-Leather watches. It also has a silver dial encased in stainless steel and the alarm and date complications.

The Tudor Heritage Advisor Ref. 79620TC-0001 ($4,999 USD) is quite an unusual Heritage Advisor watch. That is because the timepiece comes in a cognac color, a hue that resembles chocolate. Cognac is also what the letter “C” in the model’s name means.

The watch, being one of the bestsellers, led to Tudor releasing more variants. Among the new models are the $6,000 USD Heritage Advisor Ref. 79620TC-0004 and $6,400 USD Heritage Advisor Ref. 79620TC-0005. Both watches have cognac dials, the signature Heritage Advisor complications, and the modern-day automatic caliber T401 with a built-in alarm mechanism. The difference between the two is that the former has a black silk strap while the latter is sleek with a steel case and steel-titanium bracelet.

Vintage Tudor Heritage Advisor Watches: Icons of the Past

Vintage Tudor Heritage Advisor timepieces are as popular as the new models for they are unique in their own way. The timepieces are very different even from their later iterations. Here are the two most iconic Heritage Advisor models sought after by collectors, and their features:

1. Tudor Heritage Advisor Ref. 7926

The Heritage Advisor Ref. 7926 is the “forefather” of all alarm watches from Tudor. The 1957 model, unlike present-day iterations, adopted an Oyster case from Tudor’s sister brand, Rolex, and hand-wound caliber 1745 from Adolph Schild, a Swiss movement manufacturing company.

Furthermore, the timepiece did not have the alarm status and power reserve indicators, pusher, and date ring, yet was functional even in a simple way. You could set the alarm or red hand with ease by turning the crown at the 2 o’clock position. You can also see the time better because there are no complications that make the dial cluttered.

2. Tudor Heritage Advisor Ref. 10050

The Heritage Advisor Ref. 10050 was the best retro successor of the Heritage Advisor Ref. 7926. It was noticeably different from the original model, but that was why it got so much attention from the Tudor clientele. On the outside, the 1969 watch featured chunkier rectangular indexes, hands, and lugs. On the inside, the manual caliber 3475 replaced the Adolph Schild 1475 movement.

Tudor Heritage Advisor’s History: Simplicity to Complexity

The first Tudor Heritage Advisor, the Ref. 7926, was created during the golden age of alarm watches, the mid-20th century. The 1957 model from Tudor went head-to-head with iconic releases from Jaeger-LeCoultre and Vulcain to become the alarm watch of choice for enthusiasts. Although basic in style because of the lack of complications on its dial, it became quite popular because of its Rolex Oyster bracelet. The steel band also made the timepiece sound better.

Next came the Tudor Heritage Advisor Ref. 1537 in 1968. It was a less prominent model that resembled the Ref. 7926 watch but had a slimmer profile.

A version that made a bigger impression in the industry like the Heritage Advisor Ref. 7926 was the Heritage Advisor Ref. 10050 released in 1969. Its revamped dial features were a fresh take on Tudor’s alarm watch design. The Ref. 10050, however, was the last timepiece of its kind manufactured by Tudor in the eight years that came after. Production had to cease in 1977 due to demand and resource constraints.

On the bright side, the alarm watches made a comeback in the 21st century as demand reverted to normal. Dimension and design innovations led to the resurgence of the Tudor Heritage Advisor in 2011 in the form of the Ref. 79620T timepiece. The watch was 42mm in diameter and had alarm and date complications on its face, making it bigger and more complex than any of the past Heritage Advisors. The contemporary watch’s 79620TN and 79620TNTC variants, which came in new colors, were created in 2013 and 2016, respectively.

5 Reasons to Buy a Tudor Heritage Advisor Watch

The Tudor Heritage Advisor, being an alarm watch, is an accessory not everyone might need but a must-have for collectors and is still worth buying for any fashionista. Below are five reasons why:

3. The watch has variants in a cognac hue, which is quite peculiar for timepieces.

4. The timepiece comes at a mid-range price.

5. The watch is high-class because it is from Tudor, a Rolex-affiliated brand.
