How much does a TAG Heuer Heritage watch cost?

A TAG Heuer Heritage ranges from around $3,000 USD to $6,400 USD. This depends on the type of watch you are getting. The collection has the classic-looking TAG Heuer Autavia and the avant-garde looking TAG Heuer Monaco. Both of these watches are under the collection.

Heuer rose to prominence because of its early innovations. Included in this repertoire are their dashboard clocks dating back to the 1960s. The Heuer Heritage’s Autavia calls back to this invention, and was even named after it. Heuer’s dashboard clocks were used for planes and cars. Thus, Autavia watches are a mix of the words ‘Automobile’ and ‘Aviation’.

Modern Autavia watches have become a staple in the Heuer Heritage collection. These pieces are best known for their panda dials, switching from white dial/black chronographs to vice versa. Most of all, these watches are characterized by their TAG Calibre 2s. Powerful and simple, TAG Heuer’s Autavia watches have three subdials that track seconds, minutes, and hours. For such features, the watches are 42mm in diameter. Their straps are either stainless steel or leather.

All Autavia pieces have a 75-hour power reserve, 100m water resistance, and a bi-directional bezel. Its most popular pieces include the black-dialed TAG Heuer Heritage Autavia CBE2110.BA0687, which pairs the Autavia design with a strong stainless steel strap. This watch has luminous hands too. It costs around $4,850 USD.

Other Autavias include the limited edition TAG Heuer Heritage Autavia CBE2111.BA0687 and the leather-strapped TAG Heuer Heritage Autavia CBE2110.FC8226. The former is a must for watch collectors while the latter gives off a more vintage style. CBE2111.BA0687 pieces can cost around $4,470 USD, while CBE2110.FC8226 watches are around $3,860 USD.

The TAG Heuer Heritage pieces include more avant-garde pieces like the TAG Heuer Monaco. This is best known as actor Steve McQueen’s watch from the ‘70s motor racing movie, Le Mans

McQueen himself was an avid fan of motor racing, and the Monaco watch was right up his style alley. Sized at 39mm with a fine brushed and polished steel case, the Monaco watch has an opulent blue dial and a square-shaped silhouette. This timepiece also boasts a leather band and an opalin-finish.

There is not one quite like the TAG Heuer Heritage Monaco. Made for sports, the watch has two pump pushers and two subdials tracking hours and minutes. Unlike the Autavia, this watch uses a TAG Heuer Calibre 11. Because of this, Monaco watches have a powerful 40-hour power reserve and 100-meter water resistance.

Capping this all off is the Monaco watch’s fine black leather strap, giving the watch a definite racer feel. The TAG Heuer Heritage Monaco CAW211P.FC6356 watch is the original model (same as McQueen’s). Because of its cultural and historical value, it costs $6,350 USD. A special version of the Monaco watch, called the TAG Heuer Monaco x Gulf, costs $6,550 USD. This boasts a sunray dial and pearl white counters. To many collectors, this is known as reference number CAW211R.FC6401.

History Behind the TAG Heuer Heritage Collection

Edouard Heuer founded the TAG Heuer brand in 1860. This was in St-Imier, Switzerland, which was the home to many other budding watch brands at the time.

Not long after the beginning of TAG, Heuer created and patented his first chronographs. These were revolutionary for their oscillating pinions, which is technology many brands still use today.

TAG continued to rise in popularity during the cusp of the early 1900s. In 1911, TAG Heuer debuted its first dashboard chronograph. This period of time was ridden with wars, which is why this creation was so relevant. The brand designed these dashboard chronographs for cars and aircrafts. This creation had a clock, a trip duration meter, and even a stopwatch.

The world had not seen a creation so diverse at the time. Due to its success, TAG continued to innovate and eventually debuted its first wrist chronograph in 1914. Other important discoveries during this period included the Mikrograph and the Semikrograph. These were stopwatches, most valued in the field of racing.

The TAG Heuer Heritage

TAG Heuer’s Heuer Heritage collection remains inspired by the brand’s most iconic styles and watches. These watches are old souls, capturing the classic looks and features that made TAG so special in the first place.

After many breakthroughs in the early 1900s, Heuer introduced newer and more powerful watches. By the 1960s, the brand debuted one of its most important chronographs: the Autavia. This eventually became the Heuer Heritage’s most popular styles.

There is no question about this happening, though. At the time of its debut, the Autavia was a modern masterpiece. It boasted a complicated dial that was easy to read, as well as a lot of cultural value. This watch was dedicated to Edouard Heuer’s grandson, Jack Heuer. The Autavia also marked TAG’s 65th anniversary.

The Heuer Heritage exists to honor old pieces like the Autavia. However, the Autavia itself is a celebration of TAG’s earlier work, particularly its 1933 chronographs and stopwatches. Intertwining methods and watch craftsmanship, Heuer introduced the first Swiss wrist chronograph with a turning bezel.

Other Heuer Heritage timepieces include homages to famous racing chronographs. The Monaco watch, for example, was worn by car racing icon Steve Mcqueen. This is what makes it a worthy piece under the Heuer Heritage collection.

The Modern TAG

TAG Heuer continues to celebrate its past victories while looking straight into the future. The brand has introduced different chronographs that honor its own milestones. An example of this is the Heuer Monza chronographs, which trace their roots to the 1930s. Its latest iteration debuted in 2016.

ts current collections are the TAG Heuer Connected Modular, TAG Heuer Carrera, TAG Heuer Formula 1, TAG Heuer Aquaracer, TAG Heuer Monaco, TAG Heuer Autavia, and TAG Heuer Link. To this day, TAG Heuer’s main headquarters is in its birth country, Switzerland. Its watchmaking manufacture is in La Chaux-de-Fonds, which is also the hub of many other modern luxury watch brands.

Famous patrons and ambassadors of the Heuer Heritage

The TAG Heuer Heritage collection has been blessed with rich inspiration and ambassadors throughout the years. Most of its watches aim to intertwine traditional styles with modern functionality, and that is exactly what it delivers through its ambassadors.

Powerful and iconic, the watches under the Heuer Heritage collection are championed by none other than racing’s most prestigious names. Beyond this, other ambassadors include Hollywood elites.

Steve Mcqueen

The Monaco is one of TAG Heuer’s most avant-garde pieces. It stands out because of its size and aesthetic, however this is not the only reason it is popular.

Steve Mcqueen, known as the King of Cool, sported the Monaco watch in one of his most famous racing movies: Le Mans. In the film, he played a car racer named Michael Delaney who was about to try his luck in one of the world’s largest endurance racing competitions.

A fan of motorsports himself, Mcqueen wore the Monaco and other TAG watches throughout his lifetime. Because of him, the Monaco watch’s style and silhouette became timeless, iconic, and synonymous to cool. The CAW211P.FC6356 is a perfect rendition of the original model Mcqueen wore decades ago.  It uses the same calibre (Calibre 11) and lives up to the original’s design elements as well.

Brad Pitt

The face of the modern Hollywood elite, Brad Pitt is another actor that championed the TAG Heuer Monaco watch. A previous brand ambassador for the brand, Pitt wore the Monaco in a Heuer promotional photo back in the early 2000s.

To many, he is renowned for his work in acting and producing. Following McQueen’s footsteps, Pitt is an icon in his field. As a brand ambassador, he proudly wore Tag Heuer’s original Monaco design on his wrist: complete with the watch’s blue dial and black leather strap.

Brad Pitt has also worn other TAG Heuer watches. One of his most popular TAG sightings was with the TAG Heuer Kirium WL1113. This watch was most popular in the late 1990s, especially for its midnight blue dial and Mercedes hands. While this piece is not under the Heritage collection, it is the perfect watch for outdoor activities. It has a water resistance of up to 200 meters and is made out of complete stainless steel.

Ayrton Senna

The world has yet to see a driver as precise and perfect as Aryton Senna. Hailed as one of the best drivers of all time, Senna has had several Formula 1 championships under his belt. Other than these championships, Senna also has titles under the Grand Prix and other racing competitions. It is because of these accomplishments and his continuous perseverance that he became a TAG ambassador in 1991.

In current times, Senna is hailed as one of Heuer Heritage’s many faces. As a motor racing icon, TAG Heuer deemed it fit to have a watch under Senna’s name. This created the TAG Heuer Formula 1 x Senna watch (CAZ101AF.BA0637).

The Formula 1 x Senna watch is a masterful 43mm piece with luminous black counters, a sunray dial, and a tachymeter fixed bezel. Its bracelet is also double-linked S. This tribute piece is not currently under the Heuer Heritage collection, but Senna himself is still a collection ambassador.
