New Sinn Diving Watches Watches

Sinn Diving Watches: Necessity Breeds Innovation

There is a lot of creativity that goes into crafting a Sinn Diving watch. This is rooted in the brand’s founder’s background in war, where necessity bred innovation. As a result, Sinn began offering dive watches that could survive deeper parts of the ocean: from 100m to 1000m. Furthermore, the brand began experimenting with harder materials, such as German Submarine Steel (U1 and U50 collections).

With a chronograph larger than 40mm, Sinn offers a multitude of diving watches. These watches are worn by professionals all over the world, so you know that you are in capable hands with the Sinn Diving watch.

How much are the Sinn Diving Watches?

Prices for the Sinn Diving Watches Chronograph 206 Models

The Sinn Diving Watches collection has released eight series since its inception. The Sinn Diving Chronograph 206 is one its first most successful lines, tracing its roots back to 1999 with the 203 ARKTIS watch.

As a predecessor, the Sinn 203 ARKTIS was as innovative as a diving watch could get. It was the first diving chronograph to have what was popularly called “Temperature Resistance Technology”. This made the ARKTIS durable and high-performance, withstanding temperatures from less than 45°C to over 80°C.

Due to its reputation in the world of diving watches, the 203 also withstood time. It was not until 2019, the watch’s 20th anniversary, that Sinn introduced a new watch under this line.

Revitalized, Sinn took the 203 ARKTIS chronograph for a spin and introduced the Diving Chronograph 206, better known as the 206 ARKTIS. This series blends contemporary elements into the classic 203 timepiece. Its watches have a mechanical movement, running on a Valjoux 7750 calibre. Its standard number of jewels are 25, and it also boasts anti-magnetic features.

One of this line’s most popular (and standard) models is the Sinn Diving Watches 206 ARKTIS II (206.015). Perhaps its most defining feature is its sunburst blue dial, which not many diving watches sport aesthetically. In terms of size, it is larger than the 203, sporting a 43mm diameter as opposed to the latter’s 41mm.

The 206 ARKTIS II (206.015) features the same properties that make a Sinn watch, such as Temperature Resistance Technology and a polished stainless steel case. Its other features include water resistance of up to 300m, air-dehumidifying technology, and a diver’s bezel.

Users of the 206 also do not have to worry about air pressure, as the (206.015) is low pressure-resistant. Certified by the DNV GL, the 206 meets (and surpasses) European diving standards. The 206 ARKTIS II is priced around $4,300 USD.

Prices for the Sinn Diving Watches EZM 3

Another watch that commands attention is the mechanical Sinn Diving Watches EZM 3. Running on the SW200-1 calibre with 26 jewels and 28,800 semi-oscillations/hour, there are no worries for anyone who wears this watch. Its power supply can withstand extreme conditions, no matter how high or low your terrain gets.

Made with a stainless steel case, the Sinn Diving Watches EZM 3 Ref. 603.010 has the brand’s patented Temperature Resistance Technology and low pressure resistance. Unlike the 206, the EZM 3 ups the ante with 500m waterproofing, minute ratcheting, and magnetic field protection.

To no surprise, the EZM 3 also meets the European diving standards, and is subsequently certified by the DNV GL. Aesthetically, the EZM 3 boasts a strong sapphire glass casing and a lush black dial. One of its most standard and popular pieces, the 603.010, has black and white hands as well as red finishes. This watch sits at a 41mm diameter. With all of its high-tech features and opulent design, the EZM 3 603.010 only costs around $2,300 USD.

Prices for the Sinn Diving Watches U1 Models

A large chronograph, the Sinn Diving Watches U1 has a 44mm diameter case. It boasts a diver’s bezel and a strong sapphire crystal. Like the EZM 3, it uses a powerful SW 200-1 calibre and 26 jewels. Unlike the previous watches, however, the U1 has TEGIMENT technology. This technology pushes the U1’s features further, making them scratch-resistant.

One of the most popular choices is the Sinn Diving Watch U1 SDR (1010.050). Similar to previous standard timepieces, its colors are black and white with red finishes, and it has a large pump pusher located at the 4 o’clock mark. The 1010.050 also has a solid black coating that keeps it protected.

With its many features, Sinn should be most proud of the 1010.050’s use of materials. Its case and crown are made with German Submarine steel. This material is what the German Navy uses in its day-to-day affairs, equipped with seawater resistance and non-magnetic qualities. Resistant to any external or internal changes, the Sinn U1 Diving watch (1010.050) costs around $3,050 USD.

Prices for the Sinn Diving Watches T1 Models

On the subject of materials, the Sinn Diving Watches T1 offers a different strength and aesthetic from those previously mentioned. Made with water-resistant titanium, the T1 is one of Sinn’s lightest but powerful offerings. These features make the T1 very comfortable to wear.

Using an ETA 2892-A2 calibre and 21 jewels, the T1 is a high-performance watch. It also has Sinn’s Temperature Resistance Technology, and can survive 1,000 meter diving depths. These watches also have TEGIMENT technology, particularly on its bezel.

What makes the T1 stand-out, however, is its ability to ‘glow’. Equipped with luminous paint, T1 watches like the Sinn Diving Watches T1 114.010 can be read no matter where (or when) you are. Its dial also has differently-shaped hours and minute hands, which makes it more easy to read.

Unlike other Sinn Diving watches mentioned, the 1014.010 has a different color scheme. It has a matte grey bracelet but a standard Sinn color scheme (black, white, and red). Because of its luminous hands, however, the ‘white’ is crossed with a pale green hue. This watch costs around $3,700 USD.

Prices for the Sinn Diving Watches U212 (EZM 16)

Last on this list is the Sinn Diving Watches U212 (EZM 16). These watches are mission timers made of German Submarine steel, running on a special Sellita SW 300-1 caliber with 25 jewels.

Able to survive diving depths of 1,000m, these watches also feature the brand’s Temperature Resistance Technology and scratch-resistance. Compared to other watches, the U212 (EZM 16) is the largest. This chronograph is 47mm in diameter, making it a true professional’s diver’s watch. It can even withstand the darkest of diving conditions with its luminous finish.

Other features of this automatic watch include the Ar-Dehumidifying Technology (anti-fogging) technology as well as a simple date window. One of its most popular pieces, the 212.040 has a black silicone strap and a rugged look to tie it all together. A standard watch from this collection costs around $2,300 USD.

New Sinn Diving Watches Models (2020)

Newer Sinn Diving Watches build on the innovations of its predecessors. The U1 watch, with its 44mm diameter case and its German Submarine Steel materials, was a great place to start.

Sinn released the U50 line back in 2020. These watches were in smaller 41mm cases but packed a similar punch with its features. The U50 came with steel, a black steel and a mix of steel and black steel variations. For instance, the Sinn Diving Watches 1050.010 has a steel matte black dial and scratch-resistant TEGIMENT technology. Its other features include a 500m water resistance (which is lower than the U1’s) and rotational diver’s bezel. The use of German Submarine Steel also made the Diving Watch U50 Stainless Steel Black Dial (1050.010) seawater resistant.

Like all other Sinn Diving watches, this collection is DNV GL-approved and meets the European diving standards. Its prices range from $2,200 USD and above.

History Behind the Sinn Diving Watches Collection

Sinn is named after its founder Helmut Sinn. He was a flight instructor and World War II veteran who had a passion for horology. His background helped Helmut understand what people from his field of work needed. In founding “Helmut Sinn Spezialuhren” in the early 1990s, he wanted to channel this knowledge towards the creation of clocks and chronographs. Specifically, he wanted timepieces that could help pilots easily navigate and tell the time.

What followed next were decades of innovations from Sinn. The best of which included “Ar-Dehumidifying Technology”. This invention dealt with fogging chronographs, which is often the case for low-pressure sensitive diving watches. By introducing this technology, Sinn created watches that could withstand potentially anything that came their way.

Next is the brand’s use of German Submarine Steel, most prominent in its U watches. The incorporation of this material to the Sinn brand made for seawater resistant and durable watches. This definitely also helped in pushing the brand forward, in line with Sinn being the first company having its diving watches DNV GL-certified.

These innovations took decades of mastery, skill, and creativeness. While Sinn has many timepieces for different uses, its Diving Watches collection truly are some of its best work. They are water and pressure resistant. These watches also uphold the same features across the board, such as readability, accuracy, shock-resistance, functionality, and more.
