Prices for the Oris Artix GT Chronograph Models

Continuing Oris’ heritage of motor-sport-inspired watches that first started in the 1970s, Oris released the Oris Artix Chronograph collection dressed in modern-day sports watch aesthetics equipped with a retrograde seconds indicator at 9 o’clock. The series can be configured into thirteen models. Inside the Oris Artix GT Chronograph Ref. 01 774 7661 4424-07 8 22 87, in particular, is a black dial with silver and red accents shielded with a domed sapphire crystal. Diving closer, you will find three subdials showing a linear small seconds display uniquely situated at 9 o’clock, a 30-minute counter at 12 o’clock, and a 12-hour register at 6 o’clock.

With its high inspiration in motorsports, the case boasts a tachymeter scale in its bi-directional rotating bezel. On its side, you will find the stainless steel screw-in security crown and pushers with a rubber outer edge for easier grip. A see-through mineral glass at the case back reveals Oris’s signature red rotor. Inside, it houses an Oris 774 boasting 48 hours of power reserve. This 100 m water resistant Oris Artix chronograph is priced starting at $3,750 USD.

For a sportier-looking watch, people opt for the Oris Artix GT Skeleton Ref. 01 734 7751 4133-07 8 21 87, the stainless steel version. It is powered by an automatic winding movement, Oris 734, that boasts 38 hours of power reserve. Limited-Editions Oris Artix GT Models

In 2012, Oris was the official time partner and title sponsor of the Classic Car Rally which was set in the backdrops of a small village in Spain called Calobra known for its weaving roads. To celebrate the partnership with the historic rallying, Oris released three limited edition models — Oris Calobra Chronograph Limited Edition, Oris Calobra Chronograph Limited Edition II, and Oris Calobra Day Date Limited Edition II.

The Oris Calobra Chronograph Limited Edition carries almost similar features to an Artix GT Chronograph, but is dressed in red and black, up to its black leather strap with small red holes. And unlike the usual baton stick style indices in a typical Artix GT, this 100 m water resistant model features Arabic numerals. It is priced at $3,900 USD and limited to 1,000 pieces only.

The Oris Calobra Chronograph Limited Edition II, on the other hand, rocks a black and green theme, with a dark green bidirectional rotating bezel and pale green numeral hour markers on its black dial. Its chronograph registers also sit differently from a usual Artix GT Chronograph. The hour totalizer rests at 3 o’clock, the minute counter at 6 o’clock, while the small seconds subdial is at 9 o’clock position. The Oris Calobra Day Date Limited Edition II is similar to Oris Calobra Chronograph Limited Edition II in its color scheme, and has the day window at 6 o’clock and date window at the 3 o’clock marker. Both timepieces also sport punctured black leather straps lined with green stitching down the edges. Retailing at around $4,500 USD, Oris Calobra Chronograph Limited Edition II has only 250 pieces available. Meanwhile, the $2,200 USD Oris Calobra Day Date Limited Edition II is limited to 1,000 pieces.

History Behind the Oris Artix GT Collection

Oris was first founded in 1904 by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian. In 1928, Oscar Herzog took over as the company’s general manager following the death of Georges Christian. Under Herzog’s guidance, Oris overcame several challenges including the watch statute in 1934 that forbids companies to develop new technologies without permission. For over 30 years, Oris went against the statute and asked for a reversal which only happened in 1966. The reversal soon gave Oris the chance to introduce superior lever escapement instead of the pin lever escapement they have been using throughout the years. This change allowed Oris to finally develop their first-ever Oris Chronometer in 1967 and the highly accurate Oris Caliber 652.

By 1970, the brand introduced their first-ever chronograph, called Oris Chronoris, which is also considered as the first motorsport model of Oris. This paved the way for them to continue producing Swiss-precise models with new technologies throughout the next years with Oris Artix GT as a prime example. One to highlight under this collection is the Oris Artix GT Chronograph that boasts an Oris-developed retrograde small seconds counter inspired by modern-day race car rev counter which fills up in red over the course of 60 seconds. This cool additional feature allows watch enthusiasts to fully appreciate its up-to-date functions while resembling its predecessor watches from the 1970s.
