There's a deep, longing feeling I have as an otherkin dragon, and this artwork captures it beautifully.
It's a glimpse into what I long for: Looking over the beautiful expanse of nature as my dragon self, as though I could easily leap into the air and fly wherever I wanted. Free. Joyous. Delighted.
To me, my essence has been captured here. I've sat and looked at this artwork for a long time because it resonates with me so strongly. It makes me really happy! It's exactly how I would be if I could choose my form, my appearance, and my environment. That wistful gaze is one I'd wear.
This was an artistic freedom commission from Kestrel Corvus AKA silvyr

I was so pleasantly surprised with how it turned out! Just beautiful. Kestrel has drawn me for 8 years now, and the resulting way I've been drawn has always felt particularly representative of me. The closest to how I feel. I love the sleek, lithe, slender form. Hence many commissions, including my ref sheet!
I've been musing a lot lately on what "Otherkin" means to me. I started out feeling innately drawn to dragons, then knew I wanted to be one. Thought of my soul essence as being draconic. Then I discarded all supernatural beliefs completely and thought of the material world being THE only reality, no longer believing souls or anything "beyond". Of course, I still loved dragons and the idea of being one. But now, I've decided I can believe anything I want to believe.
My character design as you see here is spot on and has remain essentially unchanged since its inception. It's who I am. Perhaps, before this existence, I was a dragon. Perhaps that's why I desire so strongly to be one, particularly a feral. So if there is an existence beyond this material experience, and my form and appearance is of my choice, you can bet that this is the form I will take the very instant it's possible! No hesitation. This dragon is my core.
Anyway, I'm rambling now! If you've read all this, you've got an insight into who I am!
Suffice to say this artwork is very special to me. Thank you, so, so much, Kestrel. You rock. I'm treasuring this one forever!

Kestrel did such an incredible job on this one. I love it so much
This is beautiful. As someone who relatively recently realised that I am otherkin / therian myself, I can relate to this on a deep level. I still don't know exactly what I am, but I know that I am in some way a bird, and that I can fly.
The need to fly hits me so greatly, and I understand your experience wholeheartedly. I'm so glad you are able to find your true self.

I think it's a joy to gradually (re?)discover yourself! The deep need to fly... Yes
It's wonderful to felt understood, and I'm glad it's something I'm not alone in experiencing.
May you also find your true self. I'm sure you will if you follow what speaks to you.
